Recently, I've been thinking about death a lot. Not to be morbid or anything, but a kid from my school just passed away, as well as a guy I knew who just had his first kid. I think it was the album Hospice that really got me thinking, but this song sort of works as an epilogue to the album with its carefully crafted lyrics pondering death and religion. I really wasn't a fan of the band until this album, as I'm attracted to albums built around the subject of death for whatever reason. I'm glad they finally buckled down and threw away that stupid harmonica to make meaningful, even touching songs about a fallen friend. On a less serious note, that's definitely Ray Romano on the left.
