Bear Hands - "What a Drag"
Finally, 2010 has produced a song that I can get stuck in my head for days on end. On a scale of 0 to "Dominos," this is clearly a ten, quite possibly the first of the year; I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am to have uncovered this gem. I can finally (confidently) say that this year will be memorable for indie rock, and even though bands like Shout Out Louds have disappointed the shit out of me, at least we have freaking Bear Hands. I suppose the Big Pink comparison wasn't very accurate, but the way the song is built is somewhat similar to the song "Dominos" in its undeniable attractiveness and whatnot. I came this close to comparing them to Animal Collective, but I don't feel like cleaning crusted eggs off the side of my house tomorrow morning.
