Albert Hammond, Jr. - "Victory at Monterey"Perhaps the best of all the Strokes side projects, Albert Hammond did not disappoint one bit with his sophomore album, which was released last summer. This particular song is very Strokes-ey, but Hammond's vocals make the song much calmer and easier to listen to. Although he's not the greatest lyricist, every other aspect of the song is flawless. Every thing from the groovin' bass lines to the Fabrizio Moretti-esque drum part just fits so perfectly, and we can't forget Hammond's brilliant guitar riffs. Influences of Frank Black, The Velvet Underground, and even The Beach Boys can be heard in this song and throughout ¿Cómo Te Llama?, which is just as refreshingly smart as this song.
