St. Vincent - "Now, Now"

I could tell that I loved St. Vincent from the moment I found out she named her debut album after a running joke on Arrested Development. Since then, she's grown quite popular amongst indie rock fans, but the lovely songs of her debut shan't be forgotten. "Now, Now" is quite different from the songs on Actor, as there is less focus on the strings and more emphasis on her singing and vocal harmonies. It's hard to tell which part of the song is best: the beautiful intro or the insane guitar-shredding that closes the song. In a way, this song sums up the extent of her work, ranging from a Dirty Projectors-like simplicity to a wild guitar frenzy that you wouldn't expect to come from someone as pretty, and odd looking, as Annie Clark. In essence, she really is the female David Byrne.
