So I've decided to shift the focus of this site to mostly just music released this year, rather than any old song I find particularly attractive. But I felt like going out with one last hurrah, with a band I've grown to love over the past few months. I finally fell in love with Le Loup when I saw them perform an intimate gig at a coffee house on the second floor of Allegheny College's dining hall, a show that won't soon be forgotten. Yeah, yeah, I've heard enough Fleet Foxes comparisons. But tell me this, have you ever heard a Fleet Foxes song flow this smoothly with a perfect balance of percussion, yelping, and screeching guitars? Le Loup show us here that they've mastered the bearded-indie-rock-mountain-man routine, and strive for more. Not only was this a huge step up for the band, but also for freak folk (geh...) as a genre.
