For the past month or so, I feel that more than half the music I've listened to has come off the Dark Was the Night complilation the Dessner bros put together earlier this year. "Big Red Machine" is easily one of the prettiest tracks duo to Vernon (Bon Iver) and Dessner (The National)'s great chemistry. Not only do their voices sound great together, but their respective bands have much in common when it comes to their dark, piano-drivin songs. At the time the album came out, I was really into both bands and I was ecstatic to find out the two did a song together. I guess it's not really the highlight of the album or of either of their music careers, but it's easily one of my top songs for the year. Along with the rest of the songs on DWTN...
