This may be the only song by the cathartic Saddle Creek duo I own, but I feel it's easily one of their best. Most of their other music focuses on their more folksier side, whereas this one is loud, boarderline obnoxious, and in-your-face. This is most likely what Okkervil River would sound like if they just let loose on a single track. Not only are their western folk sounds similar, but both bands have mastered the art of storytelling, and this definitely sounds like the kind of song Okkervil River would write. Yet Two Gallants are able to produce this sound with just a guitar and a tiny drumset, while OR need all kinds of brass and multiple guitars to perfect their music. These guys are obviously very unique, and are fortunately able to capitalize on their abilities to write such authentic western ballads.
