Xiu Xiu - "I Love The Valley OH"

Even though most people have no idea who Xiu Xiu are (or how to pronounce Xiu Xiu), they have paved the way for most of today's finest experimental bands. In fact, a few years ago a compilation was arranged in honor of the band, consisting of remixes and covers by groups that have been greatly influenced by the San Jose art rockers, such as Sunset Rubdown, Devendra Banhart, and Her Space Holiday. I actually thought this whole band was a joke when I first heard this song. I couldn't believe that so many bands looked up to a group that sings a song as weird as this. Well, it runs out that all of their songs are this weird. Since then, this has actually become one of my favorite songs, despite the painfully depressing subject matter. You may think the lyrics are nonsense at first, but once you get the symbolism, you can't help but feel sorry for Jamie Stewart.
