Suckers - "Out On The Water"

I don't know who these Suckers fellows think they are, but there's already enough Walkmen sound-a-likes in the world today. This was my first reaction to this song, the first I'd heard by the band, and still by far my favorite. Not only do the opening horns, twangy guitars, and backing snare sound exactly like a Walkmen product, but dude's voice is almost identical to that of Hamilton Leithauser. But after I finally stopped whining about these similarities, I began to find the beauty in the song, which was a good replacement for the second White Rabbits album, since that band suddenly turned into Spoon. The other thing I thought was odd about this song was that everything else this band has put out is actually quite bad. You'd never guess that this was actually a bad synth pop band from hearing this song, but their recent debut EP proves otherwise.
