stellastarr* - "Freak Out"

After one listen to 2006's Harmonies For The Haunted, I'm hooked. I know these comparisons get thrown around a lot, but this is more like what Interpol's second album should have sounded like, and this is what all of Editors' songs should sound like. More recently, stellastarr* have released only one new album, containing the immensely catchy "Freak Out," the band's most accomplished piece to date. I can't even put my thoughts into words here, the song is so dark and hypnotic, yet it sticks in the back of your head for weeks on end. At first you may sneer at Shawn Christensen's nasally voice, but once you hit the chorus, the song just melts away. I'm usually opposed to New York bands trying to sound British, but this is definitely an exception.
