What I've always thought was weird about my taste in music is that despite the fact that I can't stand to listen to anything that's been released before the '90s, I'm strangely attracted to new bands that sound like they might be. Most recently, I've been digging The Tallest Man on Earth, whose latest release sounds as if it might actually be a lost Bob Dylan recording. From the scratchy vocals to the powerful acoustic guitar, Kristian Mattson is able to recreate the sounds of the '60s flawlessly, bridging the gap between then and now for snobby youngsters like myself who refuse to listen to any music that came out before we were born. Rather than please the masses with '80s style dance anthems, Mattson takes another step back and covers a decade of music that will most likely not be forgotten anytime soon.
