Had the opening guitar been replaced with piano, I'm pretty sure Michael Grubbs could have been sued by Grizzly Bear for plagiarism. Despite the fact that the song sounds peculiarly similar to "Two Weeks," I was quite pleasantly surprised with it. I sort of lost a bit of respect for the band when I saw the new album at Wal-Mart, but after some research, I discovered that Grubbs gained most of his popularity from his role on One Tree Hill. Sure I was devastated to learn that I'd have to share him with those god-awful CW watching tweens I'm constantly bashing, but it sounds to me like it's worth it. Even though it does border fourteen-year-old-only-listens-to-what's-on-the-radio-and-the-latest-episode-of-The-O.C. girl territory,Wakey!Wakey! is pleasant enough for my ears, and this song will most likely make my end of the year list.
