The Besnard Lakes - "Albatross"
Speaking of shoegaze, where did this come from? I was pretty confident in the fact that I despised the B. Lakes after whichever album it was they released last until "Albatross" swooped in from out of nowhere. This, my friends, is the quintessence of showgaze: booming scuzzy guitars, blasting drums, and faint, beautiful vocals. As far as I'm concerned, this is the only song you need to hear to become immediately hooked on the underappreciated genre. Also, this song gave me hope for 2010, which as I stated previously, has been lacking in the, uh, good department. Overall, just a huge improvement from the "Agent 13"s of
Are the Dark Horse.
