So about this new MGMT album. My excitement towards the last one died down only weeks after first hearing "Time to Pretend" and I never really got too sucked into the rest of the album. Well, Congratulations hits stores tomorrow and after seeing the cover art, I was just about ready to pass it up completely. Unfortunately, this became impossible to do when the video for "Flash Dilerium" hit the web a week or so ago, which had me slightly, slightly intrigued. But after hearing "Brian Eno," I can't quite decide whether it's more catchy or just plain annoying. I knew they wouldn't release anything else like Oracular any time soon, so I wasn't really surprised that they jumped on the bandwagon with their new fuzzy Wavves-like style. But I actually think they managed to pull the sound off better than Wavves or Times New Viking or any of those bands. I'm still a bit skeptical about the rest of the disk, but so far so good.
