So when I heard that one of the guitarists from Fucked Up had a neat new side project going on, a saxophone was probably the last instrument I expected to hear in any of the band's songs. The name "The Bitters" even makes them seem as aggressive and menacing as Fucked Up, but in reality, the trio is actually a rowdy lo-fi group, and Ben Cook's vocals are not intimidating in the least. "East" is a jittery little song heavy on Cook's high-pitched crooning and fuzzy guitars, and of course, a short sax solo. This song basically confirms my suspicion that F'ed Up would sound much better with a different singer, and I believe Cook is the man for the job.
