The Hold Steady - "Hurricane J"

After six years together, it seems the Hold Steady have finally stopped having fun. I've seen this happen to a few bands, but I never expected it from a band as energetic and exciting as the Brooklyn act that made bar bands cool again. "Hurricane J" actually sounds like the band is trying to give the people what they want, and unfortunately, "the people" aren't Hold Steady fans. Now, I'm not a die-hard fan myself, but it's always disappointing to find out that another band has not necessarily "sold out" per se, but changed to fit into the mainstream music scene. Call me a snob, but this is not a road I want any more indie rockers to choose.
